What Are You Refusing to Accept?

And you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free! John 8:32

It is said that truth is like a big pill - much needed but hard to swallow!

Sometimes, we CHOOSE to remain sick, unhappy, angry, needy, etc. because we refuse to accept the truth! What's the truth? Jesus! Whose the truth? Jesus (John 14:6).

We often think we can get to the truth without going through Jesus. We try to bypass Him by consulting our feelings, opinions, others, and even our past experiences. But if we aren't careful, we will remain sick and in bondage to lies if we refuse to accept the truth of God's Word in our lives.

Here's some sobering truth:

  1. We aren't appreciative and/or good stewards of the little things we already have, so God is unable to bless us with the bigger things (Luke 16:10). Sometimes God is only able to give us what we are emotionally/spiritually able to handle. There are times when we ask God to increase our responsibilities, finances, etc., yet we have not shown him that we are ready and responsible enough for what we ask.

  2. Whatever we sow we reap (Galatians 6:7). Some of us might need to change what we are putting out so that what we receive will also change.

  3. Forgive others so that God will forgive us (Matthew 6:14-15). When we withhold forgiveness from a person we don't deem worthy of it, we cut ourselves off from forgiveness FROM God and we block our blessings from God too.

  4. We can't do anything (with eternal value and successfully) apart from Jesus (John 15:5). Many of us grew up taking care of ourselves and we still trying to do everything ourselves, putting the Holy Spirit out of work.

  5. There is the power of life and death in your tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Too often we think we can just say anything and live a blessed life. We don't realize that too often we prophesy our own pain and agree with the enemy's plans using our words.

  6. God will never leave nor abandon us (Deuteronomy 31:6). Because other people have left, abandoned or rejected us, we don't believe and trust that God won't. I think sometimes God has to allow people to leave so we can realize God is STILL there.

These and so many other truths are what we need to swallow so that life will get better for us. We need to swallow our pride, selfishness, self perseverance, self-pity, and our right to be right, so that God can work in and through us.

Some of us think we are waiting on God, but in fact, He's just waiting for us to operate in the truth of His Word so He can entrust into our care all of the blessings He has set aside for us from the beginning of time.

Make a decision TODAY to swallow the truth about your situation. Whatever it may be! Allow God to come in and heal, counsel, comfort, remove, guide, lead, and provide so you can live in the Freedom that comes from knowing and embracing the truth!
